Amy Arrives at Land's End
Amy Trevorrow completed her JOGLE (John O'Groats to Land's End) solo and unsupported long distance cycle ride on the afternoon of Saturday 5th October 2018. Amy, whose route was almost 1,000 miles, decided that this epic adventure was a fitting memorial to her father, David, who died from a brain tumour at the age of 46. He was a much loved and tireless servant of the church at FSMC. Her chosen recipient for her sponsorship was Brain Tumour Research. Here are some photos of her arrival at Land's End, with mum, family and friends.

FSMC Gospel Choir
The choir continue to be very active and recently sang at the World Peace Day event in Truro on a very wet Saturday morning. A much faller choir sang at the Songs of Praise event at 'The Chapel on the Hill' at Porthtowan.
Christmas Tree Festival 2016
Christmas at FSMC is always a time of great celebration. This year was no exception. The Christmas tree festival requires an extra ordinary amount of preparation and planning. A large group of volunteers are needed to keep the church open for six hours each day over the two weeks of the Christmas (school) holidays. This year we had 21 trees all beautifully decorated, each having a carol and a text to display, and a theme for their decorations. The various services and celebration were really well attended. Hundreds of people were drawn in to see and experience the life of the church, with Jesus taking centre stage.
Christmas Tree Festival 2015
There were a lot of special events at the church leading up to Christmas. It was decorated beautifully with 22 themed Christmas trees. Many were decorated by the various fellowship groups. Others were aluminating observers concerning the charities supported by the congragation. Rarely has it looked so resplendant, with a clear gospel message. It continues to draw many people into the building to meet some of the real church - the folks who form the congregation, volunteering to serve the visitors, praying or chatting with them, explaining the vision of the festival, serving refreshments.
Harvest Weekend September 2015
The weekend of 18th-20th September saw the church building decorated for the weekend, with Open Church on Friday and Saturday. After thanksgiving services on Sunday, workers met to dismantle, collate and distribute the produce donated. A joyous time.
YWAM August 2015
The second week in August (7th – 13th) brought a team of 37, mainly teenagers, to FSMC, from the Netherlands, called to work in our town through YWAM. Various events were held as the group, who were largely billeted in the Sunday School rooms, prayed for the town, hoping to see growth in our churches. Demonstrations of the use of dance and other forms of creativity were given in the church.
Junior Church Camp 2015
Junior Church camp from 23rd to 27th July at Godolphin Cross was well attended, as usual, by as many adults as children. If the Sunday afternoon “It’s a Knockout” is anything to go by, their time must have been filled with lots of fun; Bible teaching, with super heroes as the theme, worship, learning new songs, a visit to Crealy, Viv’s crazy games, a lot of lovely food, late nights and a brilliant water slide. Thanks must go to all those who work so hard to make it all happen. Well done everyone.
Harvest of the Sea 2015
On the weekend of 17th - 19th July the chapel was again decorated for the annual Harvest of the Sea. There was an 'open church' on Friday, Saturday and Monday, with many people coming in to enjoy the welcome.
The FSMC Gospel Choir were very busy with a celebration on Saturday evening, Radio Cornwall's Donna Birrell being the MC. We were blessed with large congregations all the meetings.
Junior Church Celebration June 2015
On June 21st after much rehearsal, the Junior Church presented "In the beginning", a musical presentaion with speech and movement that tells the story of creation. Joined by the children from Belarus through the St Ives Chernobyl Children's Life Line charity a large congregation also saw a brilliant magic show from Pastor, Rodney Orr. This was a perfect follow up from the previous week's message, where Rodney spoke of the significant and powerful sign that God's creation is to a world who need one.
Tea Treat Procession of Witness
On Monday 25th May 2015 the weather stayed fair for the annual march of witness, followed by games and tug-of-war on the harbour beach. We marched to the sound of contemporary worship from a PA system, stopping at West Pier and the Slipway to sing together in the open air. Then back to the chapel for an amazing afternoon tea. It truly was a treat.
The slideshow has images to reflect upon a wonderful time, especially on Easter Day. We had a large congregation of all ages who enjoyed the freedom of the worship. We concluded the meeting on the Slipway in song before refreshments which included specially made biscuit cakes. In the afternoon, two of our members, Andy & Regina, were baptised in the sea at Porthgwidden Beach. Other photos show the various displays in the chapel.
Christmas Tree Festival
In recent years the church has invited groups and organisations from in the church and the community to decorate a Christmas tree with a Christian theme in mind. The results are spectacular and the church is opened throughout the Christmas period for guests to enjoy.
Easter Cross Words 2013
Some of our creative members decide on themes for the various displays. Artists were invited to use the cross and the message of the cross to create a display. The wide variety of responses demonstrates the creativity and desire to show different "cuts of the diamond" in the way individuals are effected by the amazing Easter story.
Harvest of the Sea
Usually held in the third week of July the church is once again open throughout the week so that folks can spend time in fellowship while taking a closer look outside the times of meetings. This is an event which goes back for over 50 years.
